Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is a popular travel credit card, known for offering competitive rewards rates, generous welcome bonuses and various travel perks. Although its annual fee may be an inconvenience, its annual statement credit on Capital One travel purchases and an account anniversary bonus make this easily offsetable.
Capital One card does not impose foreign transaction fees and allows cardholders to redeem miles for travel expenses of any amount – unlike many other cards that tie miles exclusively to certain airline or hotel loyalty programs, Capital One miles can be used with almost all travel providers.
This card boasts an attractive initial bonus of 75,000 miles when spending $4,000 within three months, along with standard travel benefits and protections such as up to $100 credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck applications fees. While lacking some of the more luxurious travel perks provided by Chase Sapphire Preferred, it remains one of the premier travel credit cards.
Wells Fargo Autograph(sm) Card
Wells Fargo Autograph Card provides a diverse set of practical bonus categories that match up well with many everyday spending habits and make for an attractive welcome bonus. Furthermore, unlike competing no-annual-fee travel cards, this one allows users to redeem points at equal value whether used towards travel or cash redemption – something not often possible with other cards.
When paying with this card, it also provides cell phone protection and roadside dispatch, plus it does not charge foreign transaction fees.
However, this card lacks key travel perks like Global Entry/TSA PreCheck application reimbursement and airport lounge access. Rewards redemption options may also not be as rewarding compared to transfer partners that can increase their value; additionally, no grocery rewards category exists which would help supplement common household expenses like groceries. Still, it remains an excellent solution for consumers without an annual fee seeking rewards credit cards that offer travel rewards.
Chase Sapphire Reserve(r)
The Chase Sapphire Reserve provides excellent rewards value, luxury travel perks and exceptional consumer protections. The annual fee is affordable; sign-up bonuses and loyalty tier bonuses increase point redemption values significantly. Its inclusion as part of Chase Ultimate Rewards gives cardholders access to 14 airline and hotel partners offering various redemption opportunities.
Premium travel benefits of this card include airport lounge access, an annual travel credit of $300 and reimbursement for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck applications. In addition, there are other perks such as $100 Saks Fifth Avenue credits, Uber credits and an Equinox membership credit of $300; it also earns triple rates on Lyft rides while providing an industry-leading 10 points back for dining (including fast food).
This card does not charge balance transfer or cash advance fees and has a late payment fee of up to $40; however, there is a foreign transaction fee of 3%. Points earned by using Chase Travel Portal can be redeemed for gift cards at 1 cent per point while travel reservations cost 1.5 cents per point.
Bank of America Travel Rewards Credit Card
Bank of America Travel Rewards Credit Card is an ideal travel credit card for anyone who wants to maximize rewards without incurring an annual fee. With its attractive rewards rate and welcome bonus – plus no foreign transaction fees! – this card provides travelers with everything they need for rewarding travel adventures.
The card allows you to redeem points for statement credit against travel purchases; every point redeemed this way is worth one cent. In addition, points may also be redeemed for gift cards or up to an $85 TSA PreCheck/Global Entry application fee credit every four years.
Like other travel cards, Bank of America’s card offers you the ability to boost your earnings by earning either Gold or Platinum Preferred Rewards status depending on how many qualifying consumer checking, savings and Merrill investment accounts you hold with Bank. Unfortunately, however, this card doesn’t come equipped with extra travel benefits found with some other cards.
