Utah offers many haunted houses to give thrill-seekers an unforgettable Halloween experience, but some haunts stand out more than others when it comes to giving thrill-seekers chills. Some ghosts can be particularly frightening!
Fear Factory in Tooele has long provided visitors with an unforgettable experience, offering psychological terror as opposed to gore or jump scares. They even offer no-touch nights for visitors with limited tolerance.
Haunted Forest
If spooky houses don’t give you enough chills this Halloween, consider venturing into one of these scary forests instead. From creepy geological features to morbid folklore lore, these frightening landscapes will send chills down your spine!
Epping Forest, England: This expansive forest is said to be haunted by murder victims and deceased soldiers, with visitors reporting ghost sightings, muffled drum noises and paranormal activity within its boundaries.
Visitors first experience an ominous entrance to the forest that looks straight out of a horror movie, before entering. Once in, however, it turns out to be much darker than expected and hard to see any inch in front of you – making your visit all the more unnerving! Furthermore, upon further exploring, they encounter a demon who wants them dead – leaving visitors screaming their hearts out! This experience will leave your hair standing on end!
Nightmare on 13th
Nightmare on 13th has long been celebrated within the haunted house industry for its excellence and innovation. Established as The Institute of Terror Haunted House back in 1990, Nightmare on 13th has since been honored as one of America’s best haunted houses by both USA Today and Travel Channel – offering guests an eerie blend of themes with haunting settings designed to play on traditional fears.
Each year, the creators of Salt Lake City’s haunted castle introduce new themes and sets to raise the terror level. According to America Haunts’ self-declared horror powerhouse status, America Haunts offers “the gold standard of what a haunted house should be”.
From start to finish, this immersive setting will leave you shaken. From swamps filled with zombies to creepy mansion scenes, these elaborate sets are guaranteed to frighten and amuse. For attendees with young children or those seeking a less terrifying experience, the haunted castle also provides a Day Haunt experience which provides more lighting while eliminating jump scares.
Asylum 49
Asylum 49, Utah’s only full contact haunted house, offers guests the experience of touching cast members by signing a waiver that permits this. Furthermore, paranormal investigation tours are available, while owners Kimm and Cami Anderson maintain a unique dual relationship with this haunted building by running both paranormal tours through Tooele Valley Hospital as well as horror attractions during Halloween season.
Estep’s team quickly recognized and tested for natural causes; yet their data defied logic and science. EVPs, flashlight communication, Ovilus box experiments, etc. all point towards ghostly activity which couldn’t be explained logically or scientifically.
