There have been thousands of reports of paranormal activity at the castle, such as apparitions, being watched and touched without explanation, strange smells and lights and orbs. Most ghost sightings began after renovations to the castle began in 2003. Additionally, a mysterious scruffy black dog has also been reported roaming its grounds, giving visitors goose bumps.

Aokigahara Forest

Aokigahara Forest stands alone as the only forest ever to develop on top of lava, drawing visitors with its gnarled tree branches, moss beds and rock formations. Furthermore, Aokigahara boasts an interesting feature allowing sound waves to travel through it, adding even more eeriness.

It’s no secret that Aokigahara has earned itself the reputation as one of the world’s most haunted places, as evidenced by dozens of bodies found there since 1950s and locals and visitors alike fear their ghostly presence, known as Yurei.

Japanese culture believes that when someone dies with violent or negative feelings attached, their spirit becomes known as a Yurei – a spirit believed to haunt those attempting suicide in forests. Yureis are believed to be especially merciless spirits who punish those attempting self-destruction through forests.

Myrtles Plantation

Myrtles Plantation has long been considered a haunted site due to its rich history and ghostly presence. Constructed on top of an Indian burial ground for Tunica tribe members, and numerous killings reportedly taking place there as well.

With Spanish moss draped from its oak trees and an ornate facade that looks like something from a fairytale palace, Myrtles Plantation appears like an attractive fairytale palace from the outside. But once inside, guests discover it offers much more than meets the eye.

Chloe has long been thought to be haunting the plantation, who represents an angry slave who poisoned her masters out of revenge.

Island of the Dolls

Mexico’s Island of Dolls (La Isla de las Munecas) has long been considered one of the world’s most haunted spots, boasting the world record collection of dolls – which may or may not be haunted by a little girl who drowned. According to legend, its spirit haunts this eerie location.

Beginning in the 1950s, hermit Julian Santana Barrera settled on the mysterious Island of Dolls, believing he was haunted by the spirit of a little girl who died nearby from drowning in canals. One day, he noticed a doll floating through the water that may belong to this deceased young lady, so as a mark of respect and to appease her soul he hung it up and displayed it for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

He continued collecting and hanging up dolls throughout the island. Many have missing eyes or torn limbs; visitors and paranormal investigators – such as Zak Bagans himself – have reported witnessing them moving their heads or speaking.
