Menger Hotel
The Menger Hotel has developed a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in Texas, and many guests and staff members have reported strange happenings, such as bath jets turning themselves on at random or seeing ghost-like figures around the property.
Guests have reported hearing disembodied footsteps, feeling cold spots and witnessing items disappear and reappear in their rooms. Room 301 is often reported as being active with paranormal activity due to it being home of the Woman in Blue who worked at the hotel in its late 1800s days and committed suicide when her husband left her for another woman.
Other spirits said to reside at the Menger include Teddy Roosevelt, who often visited its Menger Bar to recruit cowboys into his Rough Riders. Furthermore, an infant can sometimes be found wandering its grounds.

The Driskill Hotel of Austin boasts an illustrious past. Opening in 1886 as Jesse Lincoln Driskill’s dream project for him to live out after his cattle professional days had come and gone, the grand hotel has long been haunted by his spirit, who guests report having smelled cigar smoke or seen flickering lights and light sources throughout their stays there. According to folk tales surrounding its history – such as that involving an infant falling down its grand staircase while chasing down her ball chase and another about a bride who ended her own life by hanging herself after her fiances cancelled wedding plans after calling it off – stories continue surrounding its grand history!
