San Antonio- Strange things keep happening at one of the oldest military installations in Texas. Since News 4 WOAI covered “Haunting at Fort Sam Houston” earlier this month, we’ve received many emails detailing more eerie stories at Fort Sam Houston.

The Emily Morgan Hotel in downtown San Antonio is widely considered one of the world’s most haunted places, with guests reporting hearing doors slam, footsteps in hallways, voices echoing through empty rooms and voices echoing out into empty hallways. Particularly haunted locations at this historic hotel include its seventh, ninth and 14th floors which served as psychiatric ward, surgery level and waiting areas – with seventh being particularly active due to an active ghostly presence of a bloody nude woman residing there – making for an eerie setting!

The Jefferson Hotel

This hotel in Jefferson is a popular haunted attraction. Visitors often report strange phenomena like hearing voices, knocking on doors, objects moving on their own and flickering lights; many even record their encounters in their hotel’s “Book of the Dead.”

This building, originally constructed as a cotton warehouse, has become famous for its mysterious inhabitants – such as a headless man and her spirit who still roams its hallways after she has been murdered.

Other reported spirits include a girl in white dress and her father who play tricks on guests; an alligator that escaped its marble pool into a library where an elderly lady mistook it for a footstool; shadows have also been reported by guests, hearing screaming women or gunshots, witnessing ceiling fans turning on and off, smelling smoke or feeling someone touch their arm.

The Military Plaza

If you find yourself driving through Texas’ haunted area, be prepared for ghost hitchhikers that suddenly vanish before your eyes, spirit animals that chase after your car, and bands of roaming confederate soldiers. Fort Worth Zoo visitors have reported seeing ghostly elephants running freely among its pens as well as encountering Michael Bell – an elephant trainer killed by an aggressive bull elephant in 1987 – appearing suddenly out of the shadows!

Mineral Wells’ hotel was a beloved landmark during its golden years, hosting celebrities like Judy Garland and Clark Gable. Today it is said to be haunted by numerous spirits – one being an apparently nude woman on the seventh floor who leapt to her death after her manager’s mistress ended their affair. People have reported hearing footsteps or voices coming from within the walls; doors opening or closing by themselves; as well as smelling sterilization solutions on occasion. Most active spirits appear to reside on the 10th floor.

The Emily Morgan Hotel

At just steps from the Alamo, this hotel is a popular haunted spot in San Antonio. Its dark past as a hospital has created a variety of paranormal activity; guests have reported feeling cold brushes against their skin and seeing lights flicker in their rooms; others have heard disembodied moaning of the dead.

The seventh, ninth and fourteenth floors were once used as psychiatric wards, operating rooms, and morgues, so it is believed that ghosts of patients still haunt these rooms making this hotel one of Texas’s most haunted locations.

Witnesses at the hotel have reported seeing the ghost of a bloody nude woman on the seventh floor, as well as that of a man who attempted suicide by jumping off his balcony. Other spirits seen there include that of Elvira Moreno who tragically perished from an apparent stabbing within her room and her wife from former owner’s murder case in their own home.
