Mammoth Cave

Liberty Hall
Liberty Hall was constructed between 1796-1801 by Kentucky’s first senator, John Brown, as an exquisite example of Georgian architecture modeled on what he had witnessed of Federal architecture from Philadelphia and other East Coast cities.
Liberty Hall’s ghostly presence includes Margaretta Van Wyck Varick, Brown’s wife’s aunt who died in an upstairs bedroom and is said to have returned as an old gray lady who helps those in need of assistance.
The house and grounds are run as a museum, offering twice-daily tours and events throughout the year. Also on this property is Orlando Brown House, designed specifically to host social gatherings; both homes are maintained by National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Kentucky.
Kentucky State Penitentiary
Kentucky State Penitentiary (KSP), also referred to as “Castle on the Cumberland”, is a maximum security prison located on Cumberland River and housing 856 prisoners – many on death row – including 856 those currently residing within its walls. KSP has a dark past which can be read about in Steve E. Asher’s Hauntings of Kentucky State Penitentiary published by Permuted Press.

Phillips Folly in Kentucky is said to be haunted by a woman who passed away from Scarlet Fever in 1817; Pope Lick Train Trestle may be home of Satanic rituals; Talbott Tavern of Bardstown served as a stagecoach stop where Jesse James stopped off;
Grandview Cemetery
Grandview Cemetery has long been considered to be the “Gateway to Hell”, with records dating back to 1776. Rumors swirl about that this cemetery may be used for Satanic rituals; cats, dogs, deer and even an infant calf have all been discovered dead within.
Visitors have reported encountering spirits of soldiers, children and Victorian-era women roaming the grounds. Additionally, visitors have heard doors slamming shut and footsteps. Some have even experienced their heartbeat increasing upon entering the cemetery.
