Best Restaurants in Greece

At this Michelin-star eatery located in an old neo-Classical building, their elegant seasonal cuisine includes sweetcorn veloute with lobster and truffle espuma as well as delicate toothfish in dashi broth.

West of Kalamata lies Delphi, with its hidden ruins best explored when combined with a meal at Elia. Peloponnesians love their pork (gournopoula), so opt for roast suckling pig served with quince and tsipouro as your main course.

Hytra

Ergon House’s signature restaurant provides an exquisite dining experience of Greek cuisine, featuring finely-textured cuisine made with local ingredients and artistically designed by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Additionally, Ergon House features an incredible see-through wall that gives panoramic views of Aegean Sea.

Once, Greek cuisine was seen as less refined than its European counterparts; but times have since changed and Greece now features high-end restaurants that serve some of the most authentic cuisine available anywhere on Earth. Many top Greek restaurants are surprising affordable while their settings often rival or surpass that of their food offerings.

Hytra stands out as an exceptional culinary experience in Athens’ elite southern suburb of Neos Kosmos. Situated on the sixth-floor and offering panoramic views over Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus from its rooftop terrace.

Though most Greeks don’t brunch (a cup of iced coffee and cigarette will often suffice until noon), Queen Bee in Kolonaki is making waves as an upmarket spot where Athenians congregate to watch and be seen while enjoying poached eggs, flat whites, and the occasional celebrity sighting. Weekend lines out the door may even feature hired security guards lingering to await the arrival of one such celebrity!

Orizontes

Orizontes offers an expansive menu that highlights seasonal ingredients for an exquisite fine dining experience. Led by Alex Tsiotinis as chef patron, Orizontes brings urban gastronomy flair to dishes like zucchini flower salad or cuttlefish risotto while botanical cocktails and wine pairings complete its high-end concept.

Athens restaurant Latza features world-class views in an opulent setting that make this spot a must-visit. Take in panoramic views over Acropolis and beyond on their outdoor terrace (covered if it rains), before choosing from one of three tasting menus: Sea for seafood lovers; Flora for veggie fans and Fauna for meat enthusiasts or sample all three with Biotope as your final stop!

Athens’ most sought-after modern Greek restaurant is known for its creative cuisine and shareable plates, using ingredients from an organic garden nearby to craft a diverse menu that includes dishes like grilled octopus and fava bean pattie, while its signature sardine pita should not be missed!

At a city known for its cuisine, a good deli should come as no surprise. This former Byzantine pastomageireio (tavern and deli in one), situated within a neoclassical house is no exception; their selection of cheeses (such as Epirus feta topped off with dough drizzled with thyme-infused honey) as well as sandwiches is truly sublime.

La Maison

La Maison is a contemporary French restaurant with Greek Mediterranean influences located on Imerovigli’s cliffs, offering breathtaking caldera and sunset views. Their food is excellent while prices remain reasonably affordable for Santorini; their service is top notch; reservations are strongly advised.

This family-run taverna offers great traditional homestyle meals on Kambia Beach in Akrotiri. Utilizing only local produce and seafood from their own farm, their relaxed atmosphere creates an enjoyable dining experience at an excellent value. They stay open late too.

Ammoudi Bay Taverna serves an incredible seaside taverna featuring fresh-caught fish and local specialities such as tomatokeftedes (fried zucchini fritters). I would highly recommend their delicious tomatokeftedes (fried zucchini fritters). Furthermore, their gyro/souvlaki is excellent; outdoor seating may be necessary during busy times.

At Artemis Karamolegos Winery and Restaurant, nearly all the wines offered for tasting come directly from their vineyards. Although this dining experience offers fine cuisine at reasonable prices.

Oia Village Restaurant is my go-to spot for lunch in Oia; their food is wonderful, the price reasonable and their views spectacular – I especially adore their delicious baklava! Open both lunch and dinner but ideally make reservations in advance for dinner service.

Athens’ premier dining destination, this elegant restaurant provides a refined take on modern Greek cuisine. Led by chef-patron Giago Giammarelos’ approach, which blends contemporary cooking techniques with local products. Seasonal adjustments have also been carefully implemented into their seasonal menu which features wines and botanical cocktails as well.

Agia Efimia offers more than delicious cuisine; it also boasts an abundance of tourist attractions and nightlife activities. The peak tourist season runs from June to August when many beaches and restaurants become overrun with visitors; during this period many beaches become overcrowded with crowds; however visitors can visit other parts of the island during its off-season to avoid crowds and enjoy more relaxed environments – not to mention finding more affordable accommodation rates and avoid popular attractions during this period.
