Little Egypt in Astoria, Queens has become known for its delicious Eastern Mediterranean food since Egyptian immigrants first settled along Steinway Street during the 1960s, thanks to restaurants owned by Egyptian immigrants known as Little Egypt. Today, new restaurant openings bring foods from Morocco, Lebanon and Yemen; 2016 brought us Lebanese kebab spot and hookah lounge from Jordanian-American owner of Shawarma Chain across street; another co-owner will open an as-yet unnamed Halal Brazilian-Style Steakhouse later this year while other co-owner is set to open another as yet-yet unnamed Halal Brazilian-Style steakhouse; Lebanese seafood restaurant as well as baklava cafe are set for 2018.
