Best Restaurants in Canada

Toronto stands as one of North America’s most diverse megalopolises and it can be hard to categorize it. Yet some restaurants stand the test of time by serving dishes that remain popular with their patrons.

Chefs Daniel Hadida and Eric Robertson still drive deliveries between shifts at their ambitious Niagara wine-region restaurant Pearl Morissette, mastering the art of mixing high-end dining with casual charm.

Alo

At Alo, chef-owner Patrick Kriss and his team strive to combine traditional Canadian fine dining with international flavors for an elevated dining experience. Tightly orchestrated tasting menus highlight this global approach, and can switch seamlessly from French to Japanese cuisine. A trio of amuse-bouches featuring Petrossian caviar and foie gras or Quebec veal tenderloin served with escargot, sweetbread and an emulsified mustard sauce set the scene before courses like Dover sole with caviar beurre blanc or Koshihikari risotto enhanced with porcini emulsion follow on their heels.

The dining room is a cozy retreat, where walk-in guests are treated like VIPs by friendly servers. In addition, our skilled beverage team makes personalized wine suggestions from an extensive list.

At the kitchen counter, an expansive selection of small and large plates is offered for more casual yet refined dining. At the bar, relaxed elegance reigns supreme; staff take special care in cleaning crumbs from between tables and keeping water glasses full.

Alo Yoga has ventured into food with their first restaurant SUTRA at Flatiron Sanctuary store. Serving minimalistic dishes that are both delectable and healthful – from Cheese Plate, Omega-3 Beet Poke with Crispy Rice, Pineapple Adobo Tacos and Golden Milk Coconut Cream Pie, among many other items – guests will experience something SUTRA has to offer!

Canoe

Canoe Restaurant is located along the peaceful banks of Chattahoochee River in Vinings neighborhood and provides an unforgettable culinary journey. Boasting both culinary expertise and natural aesthetics, its menu boasts an abundance of flavorful tastes and aromas that cannot be beat; their wine list makes the meal all that much sweeter; not to mention that Canoe features 100 indoor seats as well as an inviting long bar perfect for relaxing with friends or colleagues.

Prime Seafood Palace

At first glance, this nondescript low-rise in Toronto’s Queen West may appear unassuming; yet inside is an elegant pale wood cathedral dedicated to steak, fish and Champagne. Inside is Matty Matheson’s latest project; an A5 Wagyu and Kristal caviar dinner will cost $80 a head; executive chef Coulson Armstrong from Canoe will oversee its kitchen as staff elevate everyday dining with luxury comfort food.

Design of this restaurant was intentionally restrained and neutral, featuring an understated material palette that gradually develops a patina over time. The main entry leads to a quiet courtyard which allows patrons to escape from Queen Street West’s lively activity; main dining space features two-story wood slat vault complemented by brass screens to frame views of cityscape from exterior sides.

Under the Chill Seafood section of their menu is an array of dishes like steamed fluke with trout roe and chervil from Matheson’s Blue Goose Farm as well as grilled Humboldt squid from Humboldt Bay. There’s even an entire caviar section dedicated exclusively to various kinds of caviar and its accompaniments!

The wine list at This is Paris is mostly European in style with plenty of acidic whites and structured reds to pair with their rich menu offerings. Desserts continue this luxurious theme with options like molasses bread topped with cultured butter, mustard pickles and kippered mussels as dessert offerings.
