Many who have stayed at this location have reported hearing whispers and giggles, and claim a doctor from the hospital would act like God by foretelling which patients would die on which days.
Putul bari is a century-old building that is said to house ghosts of women killed and raped by powerful landlords during ancient and British Bengal. Their ghosts may still haunt this place for justice, it is said.
Howrah Bridge
Over the years, numerous people have committed suicide by jumping off this bridge. Its ghats have witnessed many drowning incidents that took place below it; wrestlers who train here have reported witnessing hands reaching out of the water at midnight seeking help; many who tried to save these individuals ended up drowning themselves instead.
Dock staff claim this dock area is haunted by the ghost of a Nawab who was abandoned by British smugglers after she found herself pregnant by one. Dock employees report seeing her walking the area on moonlit Saturday nights. Her patchy shadow can often be seen roaming freely.
At first glance, this beautiful heritage house with an extensive doll collection might appear to be one of the least haunted locations in Kolkata; but, according to local accounts, this building has long been associated with spirits of women who were abused or sexually exploited during its past history. People staying there claim hearing women crying out during the night.
