Kentucky is home to many haunted places that are reported as creepy and terrifying, including a house believed to be haunted by a little girl and with keys rattling and doors slamming, keys rattling against each other and an uneasiness around being watched.
Cody Road RR Bridge is another haunted spot, where reports state a woman was hit and killed by a train here.
Cave Hill Cemetery
This cemetery has an incredible amount of history, and is said to be haunted. Many visitors have reported hearing ghostly screams at night or seeing green lights floating through the area. Graves dating back to the eighteenth century are said to be angry that they still exist today.
People have reported hearing tales about an energetic female ghost known as Cheyenne who likes playing around with children. She can often be found playing havoc with doors slamming shut and has even been reported seen lurking near Founder’s cabin at night.
Cave Hill Cemetery has long been associated with legendary figures, including Mary Ann Xantippe Saunders (Mark Twain’s cousin); Mildred and Patty Hill, composers of the Happy Birthday song; Muhammad Ali, boxer; and Paul Hornung, Heisman trophy winner. People have reported hearing voices or footsteps at night and also hearing something supernatural or otherworldly nearby.
Grandview Cemetery
Grandview Cemetery in Kentucky is considered one of the state’s most haunted locations, said to be home to many different spirits including Frito Lay magician Colonel Harland Sanders and Muhammad Ali’s ghosts. Visitors have reported witnessing ghostly figures walking the grounds; hearing footsteps or screaming noises; as well as orbs, glowing eyes or strange lights appearing. Many animal sightings have also been reported at Grandview Cemetery including dogs, cats and even an infant calf!
University of Kentucky campus is said to be haunted by multiple ghostly spirits, particularly around Barnes-Campbell Hall, Helm Library and Cassius Marcellus Clay’s former residence. Additionally, Waverly Hills Tuberculosis Sanatorium served as a notorious place for those suffering with tuberculosis to live and die; now this facility may still contain ghostly memories from those who resided within as well as patients forced to reside within its walls. Waverly Hills Sanatorium
Tuberculosis was one of the leading killers in America during the early 1900s. Waverly Hills Sanatorium was constructed at that time to house all these tuberculosis patients; soon enough however, its reputation turned sinister: locals would tell tales of an unseen spirit who liked playing with visitors, as well as tales about a mysterious white-robed figure roaming its halls. Charles and Tina Mattingly purchased Waverly Hills Sanatorium in 2001 and soon after started offering ghost tours; many have reported hearing doors slamming shut or encountering Timmy from whom many others have encountered untimely door slammings or have witnessed sightings of Timmy himself!
Visitors have reported hearing disembodied screams and laughter, footsteps when no one is there, full-bodied apparitions and shadow figures as well as poltergeist activity that plays with children. Bob Mackey’s Music World
Kentucky may be known for horse racing and bourbon production, but this state also boasts its fair share of haunted locations ranging from houses and hotels to lighthouses and roadways – there have been multiple reports of mysterious happenings within its boundaries.
Bobby Mackey’s Music World in Kentucky is widely considered one of the most haunted locations. Once used as a slaughterhouse, this night club now contains an alleged portal to hell in its basement; many who venture there report being aggressively pushed and scratched by unseen forces.
Other eerie sites include Perryville Battlefield, where thousands of soldiers died or were injured during 1862; reports have surfaced of ghostly soldiers roaming its fields at night. Camp Taylor is another spot reportedly haunted by spirits from those who died there due to tuberculosis; finally there’s Pope Lick Monster; an unseen, hairy-horned creature said to wander the area allegedly unnoticed by humans.
