As part of Mordecai Historic Park, there are many historic homes and structures located within this neighborhood. Of particular note is its namesake home which was constructed in 1785 – considered Raleigh’s oldest original foundation home!
House is believed to be haunted by Mary Willis Mordecai Turk, an avid music lover whose ghost has often been seen playing piano or tipping over photos that hang within.
This home is open for tours by the public and also used as an event venue, featuring several historical buildings such as President Andrew Johnson’s birthplace in its park setting. The Mayo Haunted House
The Mayo Haunted House is a longstanding local haunted attraction, featuring over 60 ultra-detailed animatronics designed to make visitors scream. Mercy General Hospital, Quimby’s Slaughterhouse and Underworld can all be found within this haunted attraction as well as three separate Scare Zones and a haunted dungeon – perfect for all ages.
Many believe Mary Mayo haunts the building named in her honor, engaging in satanic rituals and hanging herself as reports indicate her ghost may appear during nightly tours. Reports even exist of Mary Mayo screams echoing throughout its hallways at nighttime.

Blackbeard’s Ghost
Blackbeard’s Ghost features plenty of sight gags and slapstick comedy to amuse children of all ages. Peter Ustinov plays the iconic pirate himself while Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette complete this top-billed cast.
Godolphin College track coach Steve Walker (Dean Jones) accidentally discovers a spell which frees Blackbeard’s spirit, an unscrupulous pirate whom only he can see. Unaware that Aldetha, his witch wife had put a curse upon him before she was burned at the stake, Blackbeard must complete one good deed within 200 years before his time is up in limbo.
Gudger helps Steve and Jo Anne overcome Silky Seymour’s corrupt casino to save the inn from demolition, as well as helping them beat odds at both craps and roulette tables, coaching Godolphin College pole vaulter/relay runner during extended Broxton Relays events, etc.
Haunted Forest at Panic Point
HFPP’s dark and dingy waiting area is filled with music that may not meet all haunt enthusiasts’ preferences; nevertheless, its pop and dance vibe gives the haunt a party-vibe that fits well for an ominous evening and sets the scene for what lies in wait when entering its haunted trails and houses.
Dark Trail at Haunt of Terror features 12 scenes spanning half-mile. Along the trail you will encounter Seasonal Specters, Armageddon Lovin’ Hillbillies, Clown Houses and more along with Voodoo Shack, Strobe Maze Sanatorium Graveyard to test your mettle!
Morgan Gilreath finds immense satisfaction in creating zombie makeup effects for Panic Point performances, but enjoys all her jobs there equally.
