As your first stop, head to Palestine and visit Bowers Mansion – it is said to be haunted by a lovelorn lady who killed herself there years ago.
The Alamo
With such a bloody past and limited space available for it to occur in, it’s no secret that The Alamo is one of the most haunted places in Texas. Visitors have reported ghostly soldiers, cannon fire, and the smell of blood.
The Alamo has long been believed to be haunted by the spirits of some of its founding monks, who keep an eye on visitors and staff members, offering assistance when necessary. These spirits are said to play an active role in keeping visitors and staff members safe.
The Menger Hotel in San Antonio is one of the most haunted locations in Texas. This building is said to be home to the spirit of a woman in white who roams its grounds; guests have reported hearing sounds such as water dripping and children speaking. Furthermore, reports have surfaced of unexplained events and mysterious happenings at this hotel, such as its “Lady in Red”. And even some speculated that one former resident could even have been an alien!
The Menger Hotel
Civil War caused a drastic shift for Menger Hotel and led it to be used as a makeshift hospital, taking on many lives during its duration and leaving many dead behind – as such it is said that its halls may still be haunted by those who perished there.
Guests have reported hearing whispers, feeling touched and experiencing unexplained cigar aromas; as well as hearing children laughing. There have also been reports of apparitions appearing near walls and headboards and faucets turning on by themselves.
As well as numerous ghosts rumored to inhabit the hotel, another spirit said to reside there is that of John Wilkes Booth – Abraham Lincoln’s assassin who visited often and is believed still frequents this location; often seen enjoying drinks at its bar room.
The Grey Moss Inn
At this creepy spot, Mary Howell’s ghost can still be felt. Known for her incredible cooking and hospitality – including her cumin-herbed squash casserole – guests have reported hearing her voice in the dining room and smelling her rose-scented perfume; others have witnessed seeing her reflection in mirror, hearing footsteps on stairswell or watching her float through room; many doors opening and closing on its own with lights turning themselves on or even hearing children laughing in this location.
After being around for more than 134 years, any building is bound to experience paranormal activity. At this hotel that was once an advanced medical arts facility, guests have reported hearing voices in the night, telephone rings ringing without anyone answering it and lights turning on by themselves – all hallmarks of paranormal activity. This abandoned hospital, situated 75 miles southeast of San Antonio, has earned itself the reputation as one of the state’s most haunted locations. With long corridors and sickly green walls reminiscent of a hospital setting – perfect for paranormal investigation! – its long hallways make this site especially well suited for paranormal investigators, while paranormal investigators report seeing many ghostly manifestations, from violent nun apparitions to summoning copies of The Poky Little Puppy book!
The Hotel Galvez in Jefferson, Texas, is well known as being haunted. Visitors have reported hearing banging noises, the smell of cigar smoke and faucets turning on without being touched by guests. Room 505 in particular is said to be home to an apparition who hanged herself after her husband died at sea.
