From ghostly manifestations of young girls to terrifying friars with no heads, frightening sightings abound at these paranormal hotspots.
East 8 Mile Road
East 8 Mile Road near Lodi in Stockton may appear like any ordinary paved road at first glance, yet many believe it to be supernaturally haunted. Truck drivers and paranormal psychics have reported three ghosts who haunt this area: Truck drivers have reported seeing “The Woman in White,” who appears when driving by or can even cause cars to crash when seen through rearview mirrors – all three ghosts can allegedly be found within this road’s confines.
Julian Cemetery
Julian Cemetery, once used for burial of gold miners, has long been recognized as one of California’s top haunted locations. Some claim they have even seen ghostly figures roaming about in this eerie burial ground.
William Davis House in San Diego is another haunted location in California. This home doubled as a hospital and it is believed that any ghostly sightings are due to patients who passed away there. Reports of footsteps or lights turning off by themselves have also been observed here.
Proctor Valley Road has long been associated with ghostly stories. Running from Chula Vista to Jamul, its poor dirt surface hosts legends of everything from giant ape-like beasts to screaming banshees.

Staying at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel means living among Hollywood royalty. From sitting by the pool where Marilyn Monroe had her first photo shoot, to walking over tiles where Shirley Temple performed tap dancing routines – you are surrounded by celebrity history!
Staff and guests have reported seeing ghostly figures. Many believe Marilyn Monroe haunts Suite 1200 where she often appears in mirrors there; others have seen Montgomery Clift, who stayed in room 928 while filming FROM HERE TO ETERNITY and had his ghost chill out on a chair for several minutes before vanishes into thin air. Psychic Peter James claims he once spent a night there himself and saw Clift’s ghost sitting still for some time before it finally vanished!

Whaley House
The Whaley House in Old Town San Diego is an historic home, museum, and popular haunted attraction that was once known as America’s Most Haunted House and has been featured in various ghost hunt shows and paranormal tours.
The Whaley family moved in shortly thereafter, as this property once featured a gallows and cemetery. According to local legend, Yankee Jim Robinson (a boat thief who was hanged here) still haunts this home today.
Ghost hunters and tourists have reported hearing heavy footsteps, smelling sweet tobacco smoke, and seeing apparitions at this house. Furthermore, numerous reports exist of physical objects being moved without wind currents being present – for example the music room chandelier moving back and forth without an apparent source.
