What Haunted Houses Are Open?

what haunted houses are open

No matter the season, whether it be Halloween festivities or simply life in general, add one of these haunted houses to your itinerary for a spine-tingling good time!

Step into this Staten Island house that’s believed to be haunted by serial killer. Expect strange characters and jump scares at every turn as you explore this 5,000-square-foot residence.

Kreischer Mansion

Edward Kreischer has long been associated with suicide. But there have been reports of other spirits roaming his Staten Island home as well. Some have heard clanging pots and pans in the kitchen – potentially coming from German chefs who died there; other have heard crying children coming from closets.

Balthasar Kreischer built his mansion in 1885 using his fortune from fabricating and selling fireproof bricks to construct both his own house as well as two adjoining ones for his sons, Charles and Edward.

In 2005, however, a mob hit was carried out at this property on behalf of Bonanno family boss Gino Galestro. Joseph Young hired a caretaker on Galestro’s orders to carry out a brutal killing before having it dismembered and burned up in the basement furnace furnace. Since then, this home has lain neglected, only being occasionally visited by caretakers or curious individuals during spooky season when it transforms into a high-octane haunted house!

Blood Manor

Make sure your Halloween plans include one of NYC’s haunted houses as you create your Halloween costume and plan parties and events this month – from Kreischer Mansion in Staten Island to Hallow’s End on Long Island – these chilling attractions will leave you scared for days!

Once upon a time, it was relatively straightforward to create an affordable haunted house on a budget. All it required was filling a bowl with room-temperature grapes (as eyeballs), mixing in some room-temperature spaghetti as guts, hanging some ghostly figures and switching on fog machines for that effective scare factor.

Nowadays, companies are investing thousands — sometimes millions — into haunted house productions, like Blood Manor in Manhattan which features 5,000 square feet of themed rooms, corridors and passageways designed to maximize fear.

TerrorVision

TerrorVision offers both horror and camp in equal measures. The story revolves around an accidental satellite TV installer who accidentally picks up an alien signal from another planet that inadvertently unleashes an enormous alien puppet monster into their dysfunctional family home and living room.

This movie’s aesthetic embodies all the hallmarks of 1980s cinema: vibrant colors and pop culture references from Star Trek; MTV Tormentor is even featured in its prologue; one main character wears WASP t-shirts like Elvira does; plus there is the late night hostess with two large breasts!

As you make your way through this real home’s winding hallways, expect plenty of gruesome decor and surprise jump scares! In addition to the main attraction, there are also outdoor mazes and other creepy set pieces.

The Haunted Mansion

haunted houses often provide year-round experiences and host special events outside their Halloween season (November-Oct). These may include holidays such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Saint Patrick’s Day as well as Friday the 13th or “Halfway to Halloween” experiences.

Ben Matthias, an astrophysicist working on a dark-matter camera, meets ghost tour guide Alyssa who becomes entranced by her faith in supernatural forces. When Alyssa passes away suddenly, Ben sets out searching famous haunted locations hoping to locate her gravesite and bring justice upon those responsible for her demise.

Add a piece of The Haunted Mansion into your home with this Luminara collection featuring iconic statues found on the ride, complete with sinister grinning glares and flickering lights – the perfect way to combine Disney with horror! It makes an excellent way to commemorate both aspects of your interest.
