1. Dr. Best House & Medical Museum
Virginia boasts many historic landmarks. However, its rich history also comes with a sinister undertone; just take one step in any direction and you could be standing on hallowed ground of either Civil War battles or American Revolution battlefields!
Middleburgh’s Dr. Best House & Medical Museum is an early twentieth century house which is still preserved today, housing paranormal activity including doors slamming shut, piano playing on its own and feeling as though you are being patted gently by an invisible cat! Staff and visitors have experienced such paranormal phenomena at this house.
Tri-City New York Paranormal Society utilizes this location as both a tourist attraction and training ground for paranormal investigation. Artifacts from different eras including Civil War, railroad, telephone as well as old-fashioned kitchen and hospital room.
2. The Rapids Theatre
On Main Street in Niagara Falls is this theatre, constructed in 1921. Initially used as a movie theatre and vaudeville stage, since then the venue has hosted concerts by The Band Perry, City and Colour, Snoop Dogg, Morrissey and Thirty Seconds to Mars among many others.
The Rapids has also been featured on an episode of SyFy’s Ghost Hunters, where guests have reported hearing mysterious whistling, hearing loud footsteps and sensing shadowy figures watching them from a distance.
Are you seeking an unforgettable ghost adventure? Take a guided ghost tour or overnight ghost hunt around Nichols, Fainting Goat Island Inn of Lake George and Belhurst Castle of Geneva as possible locations.
3. The Dakota
The Dakota is an iconic apartment block situated in Upper West Manhattan that has seen some notable residents, such as Boris Karloff, Judy Garland and Lauren Bacall, along with late actor Rudolph Nureyev (deceased). Additionally, Roman Polanski used this location for his 1968 movie Rosemary’s Baby which features it prominently as its backdrop.
If the walls could tell stories, the Dakota would provide enough material for an entire library’s worth of books. Unfortunately, many of those tales are extremely tragic in nature – for instance John Lenon claimed that he regularly encountered what he termed as the “crying lady ghost” while living at the Dakota.
Not only did Edward Clark experience strange happenings at Dakota Apartments; several painters working on it reported seeing apparitions and strange phenomena – one even claimed his hand had been grabbed by an unseen force! On top of all this was Edward Clark’s untimely demise before seeing his dream project through to completion.
4. Fort Warren
New York is known to be full of history, so it should come as no surprise that we boast some of the most haunted locations in America. From creepy Kings Park Psychiatric Facility to Manhattan Bridge and everything in between – here are 10 most haunted spots in the state that never sleeps!
Fort Warren on Georges Island is renowned as a National Historic Landmark due to its role during the American Civil War, when numerous soldiers reported encountering an eerie Lady in Black whose mysterious figure roamed its corridors and even caused court-martial proceedings for shooting at her; others heard her screams as well.
Edward Rowe Snow first documented The Lady in Black when he assembled various local legends to tell its tale and attract visitors to Fort Dupont – saving it from becoming landfill space. His aim was to draw more people in and prevent its eventual demise as landfill space.
